When someone asks ChatGPT for a plumber in your suburb, does your name come up?
AI Search Visibility — also called Generative Engine Optimisation
(GEO) — is the practice of structuring your website so AI assistants
like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews mention your
business when someone asks them for a recommendation. It is not the
same as ranking on Google, and it uses different signals.
Why this is becoming its own job
Australians are already searching this way, and the signals are
genuinely different from SEO: ranking well on Google does not
automatically mean getting mentioned by AI. Studies disagree on how
much ChatGPT’s sources overlap with Google’s top results, which is why
we optimise for both.
The one technical prerequisite most people miss
ChatGPT’s live web search runs on Bing’s index. If your site isn’t
indexed in Bing, you are far less likely to appear in ChatGPT’s cited
sources — regardless of how good your content is. Submitting a sitemap
to Bing Webmaster Tools is step one, and most businesses have never
done it.
An honest note on timing
It usually takes 2–3 months between publishing and appearing in AI
answers. This work is worth starting now because it compounds and most
competitors haven’t — not because it replaces search engine
optimisation.
Who this is for
A business that already ranks reasonably on Google and wants to hold its
position as customers shift to asking AI instead of searching.
What's included in our AI search visibility service
A fixed set of real customer questions, tested monthly.
We agree 20 prompts your customers would ask, such as "best physio in Parramatta for a sports injury". Each month we run them in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot, and keep a screenshot log of who gets named.
AI crawlers can reach your site.
We check that robots.txt and your firewall let in OAI-SearchBot (ChatGPT search), PerplexityBot, Bingbot and Googlebot. Training crawlers such as GPTBot are a separate decision, and it's yours.
Indexed on Google and Bing.
Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools set up, sitemaps submitted, indexing gaps fixed, and no settings accidentally blocking snippets.
Pages that answer questions directly.
Service pages rewritten so each heading asks one question and the first lines answer it: what you do, where, for whom, how long it takes and roughly what it costs.
One consistent business identity.
Your name, services and locations match across your site, Google Business Profile, Apple Business Connect, Bing Places, directories and LinkedIn, and are tied together with Organization and LocalBusiness schema.
Mentions beyond your own site.
Reviews, industry directories, local media and associations, because AI answers draw on what others say about you.
AI referrals tracked.
A GA4 channel for visits from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot, so AI-driven enquiries show up in your numbers.
What we won't sell you.
Google says its AI features don't need special files or markup, so we don't charge for things like llms.txt.
You own: the prompt log, the reports and every change made to your site.
How we work
Week 1
Prompts and baseline
Agree the question set and record who is named today, you or your competitors.
Weeks 1–2
Access and indexing
Crawler access, Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools and snippet settings.
Weeks 2–6
Answers and identity
Key pages rewritten, schema added, listings made consistent.
Weeks 4–12
Mentions
Reviews, directories and local sources.
Monthly
Re-test and report
Same prompts, same engines, with the changes explained.
AI answers change from one run to the next, so we report trends over months, not single screenshots. Most businesses see their first mentions within 2–3 months.

Frequently asked questions
Is GEO just SEO with a new name?
No. They share foundations — crawlable pages, clear structure, useful content — but AI engines weight extractability, specificity and third-party citations differently. Studies disagree on how much ChatGPT's sources overlap with Google's top results, which is why we optimise for both.
How long before I see results?
Usually 2–3 months before new content surfaces in AI answers. Perplexity tends to pick things up fastest.
Should I do this instead of SEO?
No — alongside it. Traditional search still drives vastly more traffic. This is about not losing ground as that balance shifts.
